Yang Qian’s subtle, mysterious and sexy takes on feminine beauty are timeless. His unique portraiture has been called voyeuristic, but, even if that were true, we can all enjoy its misty beauty.

Yang Qian is an unstoppable creative force. For his recent show for Red Mansion Foundation in London, curator Huang Du has termed his work the true form of new painting in China. Exhibit A’s first three editions of Qian’s work, executed in mixed media archival inkjet print with silkscreen, captures some of his best imagery. No esoteric knowledge or special training is needed however to appreciate the pure beauty of these subtle and emotionally charged portraits which Exhibit AX presents in mixed media. The artist’s women may or may not know of your presence and may or may not care. They cannot help or conceal their beauty and their gaze may offer indifference or invitation. It is for the viewer to decide.
